

The Arenal Volcano
Nestled in Costa Rica's Cordillera Volcanic Central, Volcan Arenal stands out as one of Central America's most renowned volcanoes. It is located in north-west Costa Rica, just 90 km from the capital, San José. Its impressive volcanic cone, the result of lava outpourings, rises to an altitude of over 1,600 metres, dominating the landscape of the province of Alajuela.

Lake Titicaca
Lake Titicaca straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia, in the Andes mountain range. It is one of the largest lakes in South America and the highest navigable body of water in the world. Considered the cradle of the Incas, it features numerous ruins. Its waters are renowned for being tranquil and highly reflective. It lies within the Titicaca National Reserve, home to rare species of aquatic animals such as giant frogs.

The expression "Pura Vida", which literally means "pure life", is used daily by Ticos. When you ask someone how they're doing, they'll usually reply: "Pura Vida", but the expression is also used to say "hello", "goodbye", "thank you" and "you're welcome". "Pura Vida" is much more than a simple verbal expression, it's a philosophy of life advocating gratitude and joie de vivre.
